Do I need an account?
No. MyScribe opens straight into the course — no sign-up, no login, nothing to remember but the language you are learning.
Does it work offline?
Yes, completely. Everything, including all the audio, lives on your device. No connection is needed to learn.
Why does it ask for the microphone?
Only for the “say it yourself” speaking practice, so you can hear yourself and see a live level as you speak. Your voice is never recorded or sent anywhere, and you can skip it and still use the whole app.
What is free, and what is paid?
In MyScribe Russian the Cyrillic alphabet and the greetings unit are free; in MyScribe Italian it is the first three units. Either way there is no time limit, and one purchase then opens every remaining unit — no subscription, no adverts.
Is my progress backed up?
Your progress is saved on your device. It is not synced to the cloud, so deleting the app clears it. This keeps everything private to you.

MyScribe runs on your device. Your lessons, your writing and your voice never leave it. This applies to every edition of MyScribe, including Italian and Russian.
What we collect
Nothing that identifies you. MyScribe has no accounts and no login, and nothing you do in a lesson — what you write, what you say, what you answer — ever leaves your device.
What we do collect is anonymous usage: which parts of the course people reach, and whether the app was opened from one of our adverts. To count returning learners without knowing who they are, the app is given a random identifier that belongs to the installation rather than to you. Deleting the app deletes it, and it is never linked to your name, your email, or your Apple or Google account, because we hold none of those.
Measurement
When we advertise MyScribe we need to know whether the advert worked, and when we improve the course we need to know where people get stuck. So the app reports a small number of events: that it was opened, that onboarding finished, that a lesson or unit was completed, that the purchase screen was shown, and that a purchase was started or completed, with the amount.
These go to Meta, which measures our advertising, and to Google Firebase, which we use to understand how the course is used. Neither receives anything you wrote, said or answered.
We never ask permission to track you, and we never read your device's advertising identifier. Your activity is not linked to you, not built into a profile, and not followed into anybody else's app. On Apple devices the advertising measurement uses Apple's own privacy-preserving system, which reports totals rather than people.
Your learning progress
Your lessons, words, and settings are saved only on your device, so the app remembers where you are. This never leaves your phone and isn't visible to us or anyone else. Deleting the app removes it.
Microphone
MyScribe asks for microphone access only so you can practise speaking aloud. Your voice is used on your device, in the moment, to show a live audio level while you speak. It is never recorded, stored, or sent anywhere. You can decline access and still use every other part of the app.
Purchases
MyScribe can be unlocked with a single one-time purchase, or with a weekly or monthly subscription that begins with a three-day free trial. A subscription renews automatically until it is cancelled, and it is cancelled in your Apple or Google account rather than here. All of it is handled by Apple or Google — we never see your payment details, your name, or your account, and they tell the app only whether the purchase exists. Their handling of the transaction is covered by their own privacy policies.
Internet access
The course, including every lesson and all of its audio, is bundled inside the app, so MyScribe works fully offline. The app reaches the network for three reasons: when you make or restore a purchase, which goes to Apple or Google; to send the advertising-measurement events described above; and to send those same events as anonymous usage analytics. Nothing you write, say, or answer is ever transmitted.
Children
MyScribe collects nothing that identifies anyone, including children. It contains no advertising inside the app, no external links that gather information, and it builds no profile of anyone who uses it.
Your rights
Data-protection laws such as the GDPR and the CCPA give you the right to access, correct, or delete the personal data a company holds about you. We hold no accounts and nothing that names you, so there is nothing to look up. The anonymous usage described above is held against a random installation identifier rather than against a person; if you contact us we will delete what is held against it. Deleting the app removes everything stored on your device, and that identifier with it. If you would like to ask us about any of this, the address is below.
Changes
If this policy ever changes, the updated version will be posted here with a new date. It last changed on 3 September 2026, when MyScribe began recording anonymous usage through Google Firebase, widened its advertising measurement from two events to six, and added weekly and monthly subscriptions alongside the one-off purchase. These are live in MyScribe Russian and are coming to MyScribe Italian shortly, so for a short period this page describes slightly more measurement than the Italian edition performs. Before 31 August this page named only the Russian edition as measuring advertising; both editions have done so since 19 August 2026.
